Those who have been using the OnePlus One since its release and are running on the Cyaongen OS software were greeted to a nice little treat earlier this evening, when Cyanogen announced they were finally unleashing their Lollipop update to OnePlus One owners. Dubbed, Cyanogen OS 12, it comes with obvious striking changes like the Material Design language which has been infused into the Cyanogen OS software. Cyanogen notes there will be extra theming features included in their ‘L’ release, so if customizing is your thing then this update is definitely for you. Cyanogen is also including the new Cyanogen email with this release which they state is powered by Boxer
By now you’re probably wondering when and how can you get your hands on this software, and that’s a valid question. According to the Cyanogen team, the update will be over-the-air only. This doesn’t mean you have to wait for the download to hit your device of course. Thanks to enterprising individuals who have already gotten the update and pulled down the OTA link, we have gotten a hold of the files for you and have provided them for you here to download so you can flash to your own device.
If you opt to download and flash the new software to your device instead of waiting for it to come to your phone through the normal OTA process, you are doing so at your own risk as flashing the software file manually is an unofficial process. Having said that, it might be a good idea to brush up on how to flash files like this manually for your device specifically before your proceed with flashing the software. The file size is about 570MB and as of now the downloads seems to be taking more than a few minutes for some, us included, so hit the download link above if you’re going to continue, kick back and find something to pass the time for a bit. Once the download is done, have at it. As of right now there is no changelog available, so other than the couple features listed above, expect the general Android Lollipop changes to be present, like lockscreen notifications, heads up notifications, more lively animations and lots and lots of color, and of course, the sweet new boot animation that Cyanogen teased last month should be there too.
