Asus has managed to turn a lot of heads back in January when the introduced the ZenFone 2 line of devices. Asus has introduced 4 devices during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) as part of the company’s new ZenFone 2 line. Those handsets are already available for purchase in select markets, they’ve been available in Taiwan and China for quite some time now, and some variants are also available in the U.S., Canada and some other markets. That being said, another Asus-branded handset just got certified in China, read on.
The Asus Z00EDB was just certified by TENAA (China’s equivalent to the FCC) , and it actually resembles the ZenFone 2 (ZECL550) if you look at its specifications. This handset sports a 5-inch 720p (1280 x 720) display which is protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3 layer of glass. This handset will ship with 2GB of LPDDR3 RAM and 16GB of expandable memory on the inside. The unnamed 64-bit quad-core processor running at 1.2GHz will power on this handset, and a Bluetooth 4.0 will also be a part of the package. The 8-megapixel camera will be available on the back of this handset along with an LED flash next to it. The 5-megapixel shooter is listed as this smartphone’s front-facing camera, and the dual-SIM capability has also been mentioned. The Asus Z00EDB will ship with Android 5.0 Lollipop pre-installed with Asus’ ZenUI on top of it, and will offer 3G connectivity, while 4G LTE won’t be a part of this package it seems.
According to the listing, this thing will be available n Black, White, Red, Blue, Purple, Gold and Silver color options, and will resemble the ZenFone 2 devices from the front. The back of this thing looks somewhat different though, the LED flash isn’t located above the camera sensor, but next to it. Both the volume rocker and the power / lock button will be located on the right it seems, and this thing will be made out of plastic. This certification has definitely managed to surprise us, very few people have expected Asus to introduce another handset so soon, but it seems that’s going to happen in the coming weeks.
