Asus ZenWatch 2 Is Now Official, Comes In Two Sizes

Computex conference is currently on the way in Taipei, Taiwan. A number of companies are attending it, and the Taiwan-based Asus is one of the biggest ones over there. The company has announced quite a few devices during the press conference, and the ZenWatch 2 is one of the most interesting ones. The original Asus ZenWatch was announced during the IFA in Berlin back in September 2014, and the company has just showcased its successor, let’s see what it has to offer.

Much like its predecessor, the ZenWatch 2 is also powered by Google’s Android Wear operating system, and unlike its predecessor, it comes in two sizes. One will be compatible with 18mm straps, and the other one with the 22mm straps (just like the original ZenWatch). The ZenWatch 2 actually resembles its predecessor quite a lot, as you can see in the provided images down below. The smartwatch (both versions) sports an AMOLED display which is covered with a 2.5D curved glass with Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3 on top of it. Qualcomm’s processor is powering on this thing, and the smartwatch does offer resistance to both water and dust (IP67 rating).

The ZenWatch 2 comes with a magnetic charger cable unlike its predecessor which shipped with a snap-on plastic cradle. Asus has also mentioned that it still offers the Remote Camera feature, and that they’ve redesigned the Asus Wellness smartphone app. The bigger variant of the device actually doubles as a small mobile power bank with which you can give your phone some extra juice. Both variants of the ZenWatch 2 will be available in Silver, Gunmetal and Rose-Gold color options, and the company has also announced a range of straps will be available: Rubber, Soft Leather and Metal (in different colors). The Swarovski crystals strap will also be available by the way, if you’re into that sort of thing and have some extra cash to spare.

There you have it folks, this is Asus’ new smartwatch. Stay tuned to this article because Asus still hasn’t announced the pricing of the ZenWatch 2, we’ll report back as soon as the company releases some info regarding that.

UPDATE: Asus did not share any pricing info by the end of their press event, the company will quite probably announce the price of the ZenWatch 2 in the coming weeks.
