The HTC One M9 might not be selling all that well for HTC, but it’s a great phone and with a decent camera, great speakers and a nice form factor the HTC One M9 is a device many people swear by. As such, it’s understandable that people want to take care of their investment. We’ve been reviewing cases for the HTC One M9 for quite some time now, and this latest from Olixar is sort of a cross between a rugged case and something fairly low key. This is the FlexiShield Dot case for the HTC One M9, provided to use by MobileFun.
Unlike the more colorful FlexiShield case that we reviewed recently, this FlexiShield Dot case is black and has a matte texture and finish to it. The cutouts around the camera and flash are tighter with this case and it feels a little thicker. It’s also a little easier to grip and the buttons are easier to work with, too. All-in-all, this is more understated case that will blend in well for work as well as add some more protection without the fully rugged size of the Olixar ArmourDillo. The camera lens is well protected here, and there’s a chunky sort of lip around the edge of the phone giving some very good clearance when faced down on a table. However, I am a little concerned with the IR blaster being completely covered up, as it’s difficult to see the IR signals coming through this case.
All-in-all, this is a nice case, one that offers more protection than your average case, and it’s not too expensive from MobileFun, either. There are similar cases available on Amazon, and this is a nice compromise case. I do wish that the buttons were a little more pronounced, but with a good squeeze they work just fine, but the covering of the IR blaster is a bit of a mistake, as this sort of kills a big feature of the phone, sadly.
