Fonesalesman is not the first name that I’d think of when it comes to Wireless Chargers, but then again “Qi” is hardly what you’d think of, either. Fonesalesman is a somewhat misleading name as they don’t actually sell phones at all, in fact they specialize in Qi chargers and receivers for all sorts of popular Android smartphones. Here, I have their QiStone+ battery pack and charger as well as their WoodPuck Bamboo Qi Charger.
Taking a look at the WoodPuck, it’s a pretty straightforward product, it offers a simple, good-looking pad to charge your Qi-compatible devices. It is genuine Bamboo, with a somewhat generic Qi charger shoehorned into it. However, the fit and finish is very good. The recess hides the MicroUSB plug quite nicely, everything is flush and it feels nice, too. It does however, remind me of a drinks coaster. Nevertheless, it’s a decent size and it’s my provide method of charging my Moto 360 each night as it’s much less fiddly and more reliable. If you want a classy-looking charger and want a natural feel, this is a nice way to go.
As for the QiStone+, this is where things get interesting. This is a 4,000 mAh portable battery with both a Qi charger on top as well as one USB port (which outputs at 1 Amp). Both of these can be used at the same time, and it’s designed to look like, well, a stone. It does look like a stone, and it’s again got a nice natural feel to it. The fit and finish here is good, with four little rubber feet on the underside to keep it steady on a flat surface. One use I’ve found for this is for charging my Xperia Z2 and my Moto 360 at the same time. You can strap the Moto 360 to it and output to a phone, making it the perfect companion for an overnight stay. It’s fairly compact, but quite heavy so while it will work wonderfully in a jacket pocket, you will notice its weight. It also comes with a nice carrying pouch and a quality, short microUSB cable that has proven most useful.
A moment to talk about both products here, they both come with 2-years warranty, which is not be sniffed at. They also come in frustration-free packaging, and include decent microUSB cables. They are a little pricey, but if you want something reliable and well-made, then these are quality Qi-certified products. Devices like the Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 7, LG G3, and Galaxy S6 all support them out. Fonesalesman also sell a range of adapters, too, making these products that will work with a wide-range of devices.
