It was a busy week for tech and Android enthusiasts with the annual Google IO developer conference happening this past Thursday and Friday, but that shouldn’t deter you from finding some of this past week’s best applications. If you’re someone who likes to make full use of their smartphone or tablet and love apps, here are few from this week to watch or check out.
Google Photos
The highly anticipated Google Photos app was unveiled at Google IO this past week, and it brings in a decent amount of new features and tweaks of old favorites with new functionality. The new assistant feature takes the much-loved Auto-Awesome to the next level, and users will love the intelligent and automatic organization as well as the unlimited free photo and video storage.
Runtastic Leg Workout Trainer
If you’re serious about workouts don’t forget about your legs. Runtastic’s new application Leg Workout Trainer can help you stay on top of virtually any leg exercise with a varied collection of different options, with easy to understand descriptions and diagrams to show you how things should be done.
Now Watchface For Wear
This may not be a fully fledged app for your smartphone, but it is a pretty sweet watchface from the one and only Tha Phlash who is better known for his amazing icon packs. This isn’t his first run at a watchface but it is notable for its attention to detail, and if you have an Android Wear smartwatch give this one a look.
Office Lens
Microsoft’s Office Lens application is perfect for those who might often have need to scan documents and send them as email attachments, and seeing as it enhances the pictures taken of whiteboards, documents or other things like receipts to make them as readable as possible, this is one useful tool everyone should have in their app drawer.
Periscope
Periscope has finally landed on Android this past week, and now legions of users who have been waiting to get their hands on the popular live video streaming application have their opportunity to share all kinds of moments and cool videos. The app lets users share finished broadcasts with the “replay” feature, and it lets users like your content with “hearts” which puts your streams on a ranking system of the most liked broadcasts.
