It seems that if you want a little more engagement out of your application, integrating with Google Now is a good thing to consider. While it may not deter users if your app doesn’t have Google Now integration, it isn’t going to hurt and it may actually increase the value for some users. Feedly has just updated their feed reader application and it now includes exactly that, integration with Google Now as well as other useful features that should be appreciated by users, like improved search functionality and auto-completion. Improvements in the way of performance are likely there as well, as this is usually the case with just about any app update out there no matter the application.
For long time users of Feedly, especially those who use the service from the desktop browser, Feedly is bringing the Pro Power Search feature to mobile devices within the app so users will now have a much more powerful and robust search experience when looking for stories to read, that is if you subscribe to the Pro version of Feedly. If you’ve never used the Pro Power Search feature, now is the chance to do so and with mobile accessibility it’s never been easier. Also enhancing the search functionality within the app is an improved auto-completion when searching for stuff, so basically when you enter in any search queries for stories within your feeds, the text will simply auto complete better than before.
The Google Now integration is of course the best new part of this update, as Feedly is making a proactive push to feed you the very best story via Google Now cards. Every morning at 7 a.m. the Feedly app will push the “most engaging” story to Google Now, and when you open it up you’ll see that Feedly card sitting amongst the set of whatever else you have that has popped up in there. Feedly is just one app among a string of others which Google stated would be gaining Google Now support, and if you already use Feedly, check the “my apps” section within the Play Store to see if the update is available. If not, we have the apk for you here for you to sideload.
