A few days back we saw Gionee’s Elife E8 getting certified by TENAA. TENAA is the Chinese equivalent of FCC. Gionee’s Elife E8 is the successor of Elife E7 which was introduced in 2013. According to the leaks and the certification from TENAA, Gionee has made a lot of improvements in terms of hardware. Elife E8 is going to get a bump in the screen size as well as its resolution. The screen size is said to be increased to 6.0 Inches from 5.5 Inches on the Gionee Elife’s E7. This increase clearly makes the Gionee Elife E8 a clear entry in the phablet category. The resolution is also getting a bump. Elife E7 sported a Full HD screen with 1080 x 1920 pixels, and the successor is going to have a Quad HD screen with 2560 x 1440 pixels. The display panel is also changed from an IPS LCD panel to an AMOLED panel in Elife E8.

Gionee Elife E7 had a stellar camera of 16 megapixels. The camera had an LED Flash, autofocus and could shoot 4608 Ñ… 3456 resolution images. There is no official statement from Gionee about E8’s camera, but according to the rumors and the information surfaced on the Internet, E8 would have a 23 megapixel camera. The Camera is also said to feature Lossless Zoom just like Microsoft’s Lumia 1020. Lossless Zoom enables zooming without losing the details of the picture. It is like that there is an abundance of pixels and even when you zoom – that is cropping out a part of an image, there will be enough pixels to cover any loss, making the zoom be a lossless phenomenon. There is no official statement, but the camera that Gionee would use will have an OmniVision OV23850 sensor. This specific sensor is a 23.8 megapixel unit which takes photos at a resolution of 5632 x 4224. It also supports Phase Detection Auto Focus.

The front-facing camera would be of 8 Mega Pixel, that is more than enough for awesome selfies. The Gionee Elife E8 measures 164 x 82.3 x 9.6mm and weighs 207 grams. With these dimensions, it will be packing a massive 3,520 mAh battery. It will also have 3GB of RAM and an Octa-Core chipset. It is going to be a powerful phablet.
