With Google’s annual I/O event less than a week away from starting, next week is going to see a ton of new features, services and offerings being unveiled. There is already wide speculation as to what will be announced at the event, although, until it is announced, nothing is known for sure. That said, was is known is that Google have been making a lot of changes of late to their already offered services, features and apps. One of those which has seen a whole bunch of added features is Google Search.
In fact, Search has been going through massive changes of late. A lot of them are small and minor but collectively they add to an overall overhaul of the service. For instance, last month saw desktop Search receiving added functions which allows you to order food from search, set an alarm or make a note from Search and even send directions from your desktop to your mobile using Search. So clearly, Search is something Google are looking to improve.
Well, it is not only the desktop version of Search which is seeing some changes inbound. A new report from Android Police is detailing that Search on mobile seems to be beta testing how images appear in the image section of Search. Now, this is a minor difference in both the aesthetics and functionality of the image search on Search. But a change is still a change. In terms of what Google are testing, it seems they are looking at improving how images display on mobile devices. As such backgrounds to images are much lighter in color and links to the source of image are much more predominantly displayed at the bottom with clearer clickable tabs (compared to how they look now and as shown in the image below). If you check how your images are displayed on your mobile device then you might see that you are part of the testing. Although, if you do not, then do not worry as the testing seems to be very limited in how many users are currently seeing the function available.
