If there’s one thing which Google focuses on quite a bit, it seems to be finding ways to make it easier for people to manage their accounts and settings. Google’s big news this past week may have been over Android M, Android Pay, and the newly launched Google Photos application, but quite possibly just as important is Google’s new version of the My Account page where users can manage all of their accounts settings including privacy and passwords, two-factor authentication and more. If you’ve never used or visited the My Account page before, now is as good of a time as any to become acquainted with it.
Navigation is fairly simple and everything one might need is broken up into easy to read categories like sign-in and security, personal info and privacy, and account preferences. Each of those categories is then broken down into smaller sub sections each dedicated to a specific portion of their respective categories. Google even gives a brief description of each category so people know exactly what each section is for leaving nothing to the imagination should you be a first-time user looking to take control of your account. Privacy is becoming more and more important these days and if you’re someone who takes their personal privacy seriously, you can manage things like your ads settings, or you can make a backup of and copy your data stored within your Google account so you can transfer that data to a non-Google account at any time should ever stop using Google.
You can also manage the activities from your browser history, your location history, your connected devices and a range of other Google related services like YouTube and your voice searches and commands. Each option is also clearly displayed with a banner image to explain visually what each option is meant for. The My Account page is a comprehensive collection of all your settings in one place. Should you want manage your history for YouTube, Chrome, and voice search for example, there’s no need to open up the separate pages where you can access all of that data when you get to all of it from the one place. If you’re a user of more than a few of Google’s services, or even if you just use a couple, check out the My Account page to stay in control of your preferences.
