HTC has announced quite a few high-end devices in the last 2-3 months. This Taiwan-based smartphone OEM has released their annual flagship during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) back in March, and then announced two additional high-end offerings after that. The company has released the One M9+ and One E9+ devices which are Asia exclusives. The One M9+, unlike the One M9, offers a physical home button which doubles as a fingerprint scanner, a QuadHD (2560 x 1440), and a DuoCamera setup on the back. This handset resembles the One M9 though, and it’s made out of the same premium materials as HTC’s international flagship. The One E9+ also offers high-end specs on the inside, but it’s build materials are different, HTC used polycarbonate in order to build this thing.
One would assume that HTC has announced enough high-end devices in the last couple of months, right? Well, not really. As you might recall, the HTC Butterfly 3 handset has been mentioned in quite a few leaks lately. The leaks were saying that the device won’t land before July, but HTC has just announced this smartphone in Japan, even though it carries a different name. HTC has opted to call this thing ‘HTC J Butterfly (SD 810)’, instead of ‘HTC Butterfly 3’. This handset is water and dust resistant, and it’s made out of polycarbonate it seems (at least partially).
The new HTC J Butterfly features a 5.2-inch QuadHD (2560 x 1440) display along with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. This handset is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 64-bit octa-core processor along with an Adreno 430 GPU for graphics. The 20-megapixel DuoCamera setup is available on the back of this handset, and a 13-megapixel snapper is located on the front side of this device. The 2,700mAh battery is also a part of this package and the device does offer 4G LTE connectivity as well. Android 5.0 Lollipop comes pre-installed here with HTC’s Sense UI on top of Google’s OS. The phone will be available in Red, White and Dark Blue color options, and it weighs 162 grams. This handset will quite probably be exclusive to Asia, and we still don’t have any information regarding its price.
