Earlier this year, HTC launched the One M9 during Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, and it was met with a lukewarm reception. On the face of things, it looked HTC was resting on their laurels, and that not much new had been put into the development of their latest smartphone. As with many things in life though, there’s much more to the One M9 than meets the eye, as we found out in our review§. Much like the HTC One M8, the Taiwanese company is trying their best to deliver a quality experience over raw specifications, and some might say that they’ve done just that. In their latest group of ads, the company highlights key features of the HTC One M9.
Two of the biggest features about the device are highlighted in two of their ads, those being BoomSound and the HTC One M9’s camera. HTC is back with their “UltraPixel” camera, this time for the front-facing camera, and in a minute-long ad we see how good a device the One M9 is for taking selfies in low-light and how it captures more compared to other smartphones out there. We also get a quick reminder that the rear-facing 20-megapixel is no slouch, either. In another video, we see HTC’s trusty BoomSound technology which makes use of two front-facing speakers to create rich, stereo sound. This time around, HTC have added Dolby Audio as well as Virtual Surround Sound, and while the video does exaggerate things a little, the HTC One M9 has some great pipes on it.
The other two new videos highlight HTC Connect, and how easy it is to connect to supported devices like wireless speakers and such. Then there’s a focus on HTC Sense, which in the M9 has been improved and the themes option is now more comprehensive than before and offers all sorts of tricks, like the ability to create a theme based around a favorite photo of yours, or contextually aware widgets offering up different apps when you’re at home or at work.
