This news is a little on the odd side, it looks as though an unannounced Huawei tablet has popped up at a boutique in France. Despite the tablet still technically being unofficial, the fact that Huawei was caught showing it off at one of their boutiques essentially tells us that the device is official and will be coming soon. Someone from Les Numeriques spotted the unannounced device and discovered that it is called the Huawei MediaPad M2.
Messing with the tablet and going through the settings, whoever got their hands on the device was able to get quite a bit of information about it. They were able to learn that the Huawei MediaPad 2 contains a 2GHz octa-core processor with a 64-bit Kirin 930 chipset, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, and a 4,800mAh battery. As for the cameras, it has an 8MP rear-facing camera and a 2MP front-facing camera. Last but certainly not least you have the display, which is an 8-inch 1920 x 1200p panel.
Whoever got their hands on the device was not only able to get most of its specs, but they were also able to get some of the devices dimensions and pricing. The MediaPad M2 comes in at 7.8mm thin and with a weight of 310 grams, not too shabby. As for exactly when and where you will be able to get your hands on this device, that still remains mostly unknown. The reason we say mostly unknown is because we do have a release window of sometime in June. But again, where and exactly which day in June is not known. As for pricing, the device is set to cost €349, which translates to about $390. You should expect some sort of official announcement from Huawei any day now with more details on pricing and availability.
The Huawei MediaPad M2, based on the pictures taken of it at the boutique, looks pretty darn good. It has a simple and elegant looking aluminum body that will surely draw in some customers. Also, based on the specs mentioned above, the device should perform well when it comes to running modern apps and games.
