Meizu's VP: M2 Note Won't Sport A Fingerprint Scanner

Meizu is an up-and-coming China-based smartphone manufacturer. This China-based OEM has released a number of solid devices last year, their sales have gone up and they’ve also received a number of investments lately, the most notable ones came from Alibaba and MediaTek. Meizu has released MX4, MX4 Pro and M1 Note handsets last year, and in January this year, the company has unveiled the M1 mid-ranger as well. Meizu has announced their arrival to India by launching the M1 Note handset in that Asian country, and the company will also hold an event on June 2nd in Beijing, an event we’ll be present at.

Speaking of which, rumors have been saying that Meizu is planning to announce the M1 Note’s successor during the event. We’ve seen a number of leaks showing off the alleged renders and real life images of this handset, and the leaks have been rather consistent thus far. The device will apparently sport a physical home button, and some rumors have been saying that the fingerprint scanner might also be a part of the package, but that won’t be the case. Meizu’s Vice President, Li Nan, has confirmed via his official Weibo (Chinese social network) account that the upcoming device which will be a part of the ‘Note’ series won’t sport a fingerprint scanner, but he did confirm that a physical home button will be present however. Despite the fact Li Nan didn’t exactly say ‘M2 Note’ or ‘Note 2’ naming, it’s quite obvious what Meizu plans to announce at this point.

We really don’t have that much details regarding the specifications of this handset, but we can tell you that this will be yet another mid-range offering by the company. The latest leak has also revealed that the phone will be powered by Android 5.1 Lollipop with Meizu’s Flyme OS installed on top of it. The device will quite probably resemble its predecessor and its polycarbonate back will wrap around the edges of the device. You can also expect this handset to arrive in a range of colors, just like its predecessor. Anyhow, the announcement will take place June 2nd, stay tuned for more info.
