Back in January, Xiaomi has announced the company’s new flagship devices, the Mi Note and Mi Note Pro. The Mi Note variant has been available for purchase in China for quite some time now, and the Mi Note Pro has launched quite recently actually. The Mi Note Pro is the higher-end handset here, and it is equipped with the Snapdragon 810 SoC which was accused of overheating quite a few times now, despite the fact Qualcomm has officially responded to such claims already.
That being said, rumors started making rounds around the internet stating that the Mi Note Pro handset is actually overheating. Those were only rumors, but such were enough to make people wonder, as usual. Well, Xiaomi reached out to us in order to clarify these rumors. It seems like this was an isolated incident, one user received a Mi Note Pro unit and was unable to turn on the device. A number of screenshots leaked, but Xiaomi says those were all from the same source, and not from multiple sources as rumors suggested. The company has also confirmed that user has received a new Mi Note Pro handset, and that the faulty unit has been sent to Xiaomi’s Beijing office where the company will try to figure out what’s wrong with the faulty unit. Xiaomi has also said that the user who received a replacement unit has expressed satisfaction with his new device. Xiaomi assured us that their Mi Note Pro handset is not overheating, and that this was an isolated incident. In order to prove that, Xiaomi has linked us a review by IT168, a Chinese portal. The reviewer has tested Xiaomi’s handset by running graphically intensive tasks and the phone remained cool, hitting only 39 degrees.
It seems like this was an isolated incident and that there’s nothing to worry about, which are good news for those of you who are planning to grab the Mi Note Pro. As a reminder, the Mi Note Pro is currently available only in China and it is priced at 2,999 Yuan ($484), which is not a whole lot considering this device’s build quality and beastly specifications that it ships with. The Mi Note Pro is powered by the Snapdragon 810, and it ships with 4GB of RAM and a 5.7-inch QuadHD (2560 x 1440), amongst other specs.
