As you all know, Nokia has been the world’s number one cellphone manufacturer in the past. Following a number of poor decisions by the company, they had to sell their Devices and Services business to Microsoft. Many people thought that the company is done for, but Nokia managed to get it together somehow, and push out their first Android-powered tablet to the market. Unfortunately for people outside of China, this thing has very limited availability at the moment, but the company is doing their best to fix that, and they just made this thing available in another Asian country.
The Nokia N1 is now available in Taiwan for TWD 8,199 ($269), and can be purchased from an online retailer iSunfa. This thing was originally announced back in November, and has been available in China for 1,599 Yuan ($257) for quite some time now. The tablet is expected to make it to other Asian markets in the near future, though we don’t have many details regarding that at the moment. The global launch is also expected, but it seems like Nokia is still not ready to do that, unfortunately.
The Nokia N1 features a 7.9-inch 2048 x 1536 IPS LED-backlit display with Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3 on top of it. This thing ships with 2GB of LPDDR3 RAM and 32GB of in-built storage. Intel’s Atom Z3580 64-bit quad-core processor clocked at 2.3GHz powers on this tablet along with a PowerVR G6430 GPU. Android 5.0 Lollipop comes pre-installed on this tablet with Nokia’s Z Launcher on top of Google’s OS. The 8-megapixel camera is located on the back of this device, and a 5-megapixel shooter is available up front. The 5,300mAh battery is also a part of this package, and the tablet measures 200.7 x 138.6 x 6.9mm, while it weighs 318 grams.
There you have it folks, the Nokia N1 is now available in Taiwan as well for those of you who live there and are interested in purchasing a copy. As a side note, Nokia is currently in the process of acquiring Alcatel-Lucent and it plans to sell their HERE Maps business in the future. All in all, this will be an interesting year for this Finland-based company.
