Roman Nurik Releases FORM Watch Face on the Play Store

Roman Nurik, you may know him as a Googler. Or perhaps as the creator of apps such as Muzei and Dashclock. Both of which are amazing apps and have a fantastic design. Now, Roman has released another app, it’s the FORM Watch Face. To put it simply, it looks like Google’s countdown to I/O, and boy does it look good! The watch face is pretty minimal, basically just showing the time, along with the date, which can be added in the settings for this particular watch face.

There’s more to this app than just a new watch face. Roman took to Medium to explain it all. And basically, apps are working off of each other. With the FORM Watch Face, it can use Muzei. In the picture that Roman used, you can see where the background from Muzei is on the watch face and the numbers on the watch face are derived from the colors in the background. To put it in plain english, it’s stunning. Roman says that there are 5 different APKs running here. This is likely something we’ll hear more about at Google I/O later on this week, which kicks off on Thursday. You can check out Roman’s post on Medium – by hitting the source links below – and reading up on everything he has to say about FORM Watch Face.

This watch face is currently in the Play Store and is free. I have it on the Moto 360 right now, and it looks great on this round display. I’m sure it looks great on square displays as well. In the settings you can choose between blue, green, red, yellow and gray backgrounds, which the text – or rather the numbers – use that same color as well. You can also choose to show unread count, the date, and seconds on the watch face. Of course, to get into the settings, you’ll need to use the Android Wear companion app and choose the FORM Watch Face, then tap the settings in the center.

This is likely only a hint of what Google has to show us at Google I/O, and I’m sure I’m not the only one that can’t wait!
