Android devices have been updating to Lollipop for a long time now, it brought enough visual changes to make it one of the most relevant updates in the history of the OS, even with the customizations of each of the OEMs, they’ve all taken queues from the new design language that Google created. The update has been kind of slow and it has had some hiccups along the road that have been corrected in the more recent updates. The NVIDIA SHIELD gaming tablet is a very capable device, featuring a solid construction along with front-facing stereo speakers and a sharp 8-inch Full HD screen. This tablet was one of the first devices to get Lollipop, since the version it uses is pretty much like stock Android and ever since it has received some updates with minor but important improvements, the camera has more effects, it is compatible with more chargers and the battery life has been upgraded. The most recent update is called “SHIELD Tablet Software Upgrade 3.0”, it was released today, though it may take some time to reach all of the devices, as the update is available sooner in some regions. The screen will also get better with a new Global Tone Mapping feature that can be changed by the user if he likes this setting. The SHIELD controller will get some optimizations too and pairing these two devices shall also get an improvement. Other areas that will get enhanced are the camera, audio and other fixes. The update for the WiFi model is about 200 MB, but it is already available for the LTE model too and the modem included in that model is said to be improved too.
