Sony has surprised many people when the company unveiled their Xperia Z4 flagship back in April. This Japan-based company didn’t exactly handle the pre-launch promotion of the device at all, and many people didn’t even know the device will launch. Moreover, the company launched the device in Japan and for the Japanese smartphone market only, at least for now. They will quite probably launch the international version of the device soon, but for now, the Xperia Z4 is a Japan exclusive.
That being said, this handset just got announced for SoftBank Mobile in Japan. We wrote about SoftBank’s new offerings two times today, the company has listed Sharp’s Aquos Crystal 2 and Aquos Xx handset on their official webpage already, and the Xperia Z4 is now here as well. SoftBank is actually the third Japan-based carrier to announce the availability of Sony’s new flagship, following NTT DoCoMo and au. Anyhow, this handset will launch in mid-June (next month), and it seems like it will reach all the aforementioned carriers at that time.
The Xperia Z4 sports a 5.2-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display along with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD card up to 128GB). Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 64-bit octa-core processor is fueling this handset along with an Adreno 430 GPU for graphics. The 20.7-megapixel Exmor RS camera (CMOS sensor) is located on the back of this device, while you’ll find a 5.1-megapixel Exmor R snapper (CMOS sensor, 25mm wide-angle lens) up front. The 2,930mAh battery is also a part of this package and the device does offer 4G LTE connectivity, of course. Android 5.0 Lollipop comes pre-installed on Sony’s new flagship, and the company’s custom UI ships on top of Google’s OS. IP6X and IPX5/IPX8 certification for water and dust resistance is also present, and the handset measures 145 x 72 x 6.9mm, while it weighs 144 grams.

The Xperia Z4 is a typical Sony flagship, and it actually resembles its predecessor a whole lot, to the point that it’s hard to differentiate the two. As previously mentioned, there’s still no word on the international release of the Xperia Z4, stay tuned for that.
