Sony Lavender Might Launch Next Month, New Images Leak

Sony Mobile hasn’t been doing all that well for a long time now. The company’s sales aren’t exactly the best, and they’ve decided to leave Chinese smartphone market a while back and focus on manufacturing premium devices. The company is still making mid-range offerings though, but the focus is on their high-end smartphones, at least according to the company. Speaking of Sony’s high-end devices, they have announced their new Xperia Z4 handset in Japana couple of weeks ago, and that was a very odd launch. The company didn’t exactly hype up its launch, and only a few news outlets outside of Japan actually knew about the launch itself considering it was Japan-only. This Japan-based tech giant is expected to release the Xperia Z4 internationally soon, and the device might be called Xperia Z3+ globally according to some reports.

That being said, we’re not here to talk about the Xperia Z3+ / Xperia Z4, but to focus on another Sony-branded handset which seems really interested, Sony Lavender (E5503). What is Sony Lavender? Well, that’s the alleged ‘bezel-less’ smartphone that Sony intends to introduce in the near future. The ‘Lavender’ is only a codename, and we still don’t know what will the company call it in the end. We’ve already seen one leaked image of the device, and now we have a couple more to share with you. Judging by the available images, this handset will be really good looking, and sport really thin bezels, which wasn’t exactly Sony’s strong suit thus far.

According to rumors, the Lavender’s display will be bigger than 5.5-inches and will be 1080p in resolution. MediaTek’s MT6752 64-bit octa-core processor clocked at 1.7Ghz will power on this handset, and you can also expect it to ship with 2GB of RAM on the inside. The 13-megapixel camera will be located on the back of this device with Sony’s IMX214 sensor on the inside. Android 5.0 Lollipop will come pre-installed out of the box, and this device will also offer two SIM card slots. Judging by the leaked specs, this will be a really solid mid-range offering by Sony, though it’s somewhat surprising Sony didn’t opt to include such a design in one of their higher-end devices. Perhaps they will, who knows, these are only rumors. Either way, we’ll report back soon, stay tuned.
