Sony Might Launch Project Morpheus Before June 2016

Technology is advancing at an incredible pace, we’ve seen a lot of astonishing tech products in the last few years, something we couldn’t even imagine 10 years ago. 3D printers, virtual reality headsets, smartglasses… you name it. Speaking of virtual reality, we’re seeing more and more VR headsets hitting the market, and Oculus Rift might be the best-known one at the moment. The Oculus Rift is still not available for purchase, though a number of people have already tried it out, and from what they had to say, it’s great. It will be interesting to see advancements in the virtual reality department in the next couple of years, and gamers might enjoy VR the most, at least in the beginning.

Anyhow, Oculus is not the only company which is dabbling in VR though, there are a number of other companies who are currently developing their virtual reality headsets. Samsung has introduced Gear VR back in September 2014, a gadget which works with a couple of company’s devices. It is worth noting that Oculus actually played a huge part in creating Gear VR though. And then there’s Sony, this Japan-based company is also developing a virtual reality headset, and it’s currently named ‘Project Morpheus’.

We don’t now much about Project Morpheus at the moment, Sony wasn’t exactly revealing thus far. A new report is suggesting that the company might release their virtual reality offering before June 2016, which means we might see it launched in less than a year. This actually means that Oculus might release their virtual reality offering before Sony, because they’re expected to release Oculus Rift in Q1 2016, but who knows. The term ‘before June 2016’ is not exactly specific, so who knows. One thing is for sure though, we’ll hear more about Project Morpheus in the coming months.

It is also worth mentioning that HTC has also already showcased their VR offering, much like Samsung. This Taiwan-based company has partnered up with Valve and unveiled their HTC RE Vive headset during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona back in March. So, as you can see, there are quite a few companies which are dabbling in virtual reality at the moment, and it will be interesting to see what happens next.
