All the talk in update land over the last six months has been around Android 5.0 (Lollipop). For the lucky few (mainly Nexus devices), the more recent talk has all surrounded that of the latest major(ish) update to Android 5.1. In fact, most of the Nexus devices recently saw their update rolling out to Android 5.1.1. With the T-Mobile Nexus 6 being the most recent. Well, for owners of the Moto X (2nd gen) and especially those on U.S. Cellular, then it looks like you have an update waiting for you. Well, if it is not there right now then it soon should be.
The update, which is now listing on the U.S. Cellular support site (source link below) notes the latest update comes with build number LPE 23.32-21 and will bring the Moto X (2nd Gen) up to Android 5.1. This follows on from the news two weeks ago, that the 2013 Moto X had begun test driving the Android 5.1 update in certain markets. However, the U.S. Cellular Android 5.1 news does not stop there. Likewise, if you happen to also/either own a Motorola Moto E LTE then it seems the Android 5.1 update is also currently en route to your device too. Like the Moto X update, the Moto E LTE update is also already showing up on the U.S. Cellular support pages and is listed coming with build number LPI 23.29-15.
As such, owners of either device should be able to grab their download now. To do so, and as per usual, head into settings, navigate to About Phone, then to System Updates and finally check for updates. If it is there then you will be able to install straight away. If it does not show up just yet, then do not worry as the update does seem to be en route and sometimes can take a longer time to land on devices. In terms of the updates, the U.S. Cellular update pages do not list any specifics on what the updates include, although the Android 5.1 update has largely been covered in the past and there is nothing too groundbreaking in the update. That said, there are a number of major(ish) bug fixes arriving. So if you have been experiencing any major issues since updating to Lollipop on either of these two devices, then this update might prove to be just the answer.
