Xiaomi certainly is an ambitious company. Being as young as they are (comparatively speaking) and achieving as much as they have (comparatively speaking), in the short time they have, does not seem to have phased the company at all. In fact, by all observations, it seems their success is simply gearing them to move even quicker than they already have, in the future. That said, in spite of their massive success, the company has yet to really make an impact in North America or Europe.
Well in a bid to rectify what seems to be a massive hole in their future potential, Xiaomi has been planning on opening a new online store, specifically designed to make their products available to the markets they have yet to tap into. In fairness, the news of the store has been known for a couple of months and as such, it was not a massive surprise when Xiaomi announced a couple of weeks ago that the store would go live a few days later on May 19th. Well, on May 19th, the store did go live and saw a number of Xiaomi products become available to a limited number of European countries, as well as the U.S. However, within hours of opening, the limited selection of products had seemed to pretty much be depleted. That said, the launch was only a beta launch.
Either way, it seems like the beta testing went well as Xiaomi have today announced on twitter (source link below) that the Mi Shop will open on June 1st. This is presumably a full opening of the store on a more permanent basis. The details in the image shown above do highlight that the U.S. will be the first to see the store go live on June 1st. While the UK, France and Germany will gain access to the store a few hours later on June 2nd. Of course, the store will again only offer the Xiaomi accessory lines with no possibility (yet) of picking up any of their handsets. That said, if you were hoping to get your hands on some new Xiaomi accessories, then it looks like you won’t have too long now to wait.
