Xiaomi is the largest smartphone OEM in China, and in the top 5 smartphone manufacturers in the world. This company has released their first fitness tracker, the Mi Band, back in July 2014. The Mi Band is an incredibly cheap, and yet capable fitness tracker that has been selling really well for Xiaomi for the past year. That being said, we’ve seen a couple of rumors / leaks regarding its successor, the Mi Band 2. This device was said to sport a display this time around, and a couple of days ago, the alleged device leaked. It turns out that leak was way off, read on.
The device which leaked the other day is in fact ZeaPlus Band, and has nothing to do with Xiaomi whatsoever. Huami’s CEO has denied that the leaked product is the Mi Band 2, and he should know considering that Huami has partnered up with Xiaomi in order to release the original Mi Band, and is quite probably working with them on a sequel as well. So, where did the leaked device come from then? Well, that smartband actually does exist, but is not a Mi Band 2, but a ZeaPlus Band. If you follow the source link down below, you’ll load ZeaPlus’ listing of their smartband and see the leaked device on that page. That smartband sports an OLED display on the front, and is also able to connect to both Android and iOS, not to mention that it’s IP67 certified which makes it both water and dust resistant.
Interesting enough, this device is also being sold as Newman’s H110 intelligent smart bracelet for Children in China. The device is priced at 199 Yuan ($32) over there. So, that’s it, we’re back to square one, we’re still waiting for Xiaomi to release some info when it comes to the Mi Band 2, or at least some leaks to start hitting the internet. All we’ve heard thus far, is that the Mi Band 2 will quite probably sport a display up front, that’s it. You can also expect that device to be really affordable, but other than that, we really don’t have any concrete info. Either way, we’ll let you know when something pops up.
