Over the last month details about a new handset from Gionee coming to market called the Elife E8 began to surface, stating things like the device would be capable of producing pictures at 100MP image quality. Details like that rumor were accompanied by renders of Gionee’s upcoming phone which has so far not been launched. Now, Allview who is a company which typically works with companies like Gionee has debuted and released their X2 Xtreme handset for the Romanian market which is more or less the Elife E8 under a different brand name.
You can see the resemblance of the two devices if you look at the renders and compare them to the design of the X2 Xtreme. The phone comes with a very respectable list of hardware specifications, especially when you consider the listed $554 price point consumers will be paying to get a hold of one. For starters, the X2 Xtreme is equipped with a 6-inch display that carries a 2k resolution. What’s powering that display is a MediaTek Helio X10 octa core processor with a PowerVR G6200 GPU, an all but modest 3500mAh battery, and 3GB of RAM. Storage wise the X2 Xtreme is packed with 64GB of space which is more than enough for most users these days. Even the cameras are worth taking note of, with an 8MP camera on the front for video chat and selfies, and a main rear camera set at 24MP which is capable of recording video at 4K.
The phone also sports a fingerprint sensor just below the rear camera which is elegantly blended into the rear body design so as not to seem too obtrusive. The X2 Xtreme is relatively thin as well measuring in at 9.6mm and it only weighs 204.4 grams. There’s no telling whether or not the device will come in more than the one color that’s displayed here. The exact launch date is also not listed, but the phone is said to be shipping in the beginning of August with a delivery date of August 15th, so more towards the end of the summer is when consumers can likely expect an official launch to where the phone can be purchased in stores.
