Opera comes to Android TV
If you have an Android TV, you might be interested to know that you can now download a browser to use on it. That’s right, Opera has brought their popular Android browser over to Android TV. And it has a pretty clean and light, uncluttered interface. Definitely what’s needed on a TV.
Facebook gets Updated
This week, Facebook for Android got a pretty nifty update, which includes being able to like posts offline. So now if you’re on the subway and you lose connection to your carrier’s network, you can still keep liking posts in your timeline. Pretty neat.
Last.fm gets out of the Froyo-era with Redesign
Last.fm’s app has been pretty ugly, to put it bluntly. It’s looked like something we used on Froyo back in the day. However, this week the company released a complete redesign of the app, and it looks way better. It’s not quite material design, but it’s much, much better than it used to be.
Spotify reaches v3.0 on Android
Spotify was also updated this week to version 3.0. It includes some visual tweaks, as well as a swipe gesture to skip songs or go back to the previous one. There is also a redesigned player – slightly redesigned – in the new update. However, it still does not include video which was announced recently. That likely won’t make its way to Spotify on Android until this fall, unfortunately.
Amazon Photos gets updated to version 4.0
Amazon Photos also made it to a milestone version this week, hitting the big 4-0. The update brings plenty of new features like being able to upload any or all of your albums to Cloud Drive using Auto save, Sharing multiple photos to social networks. For those on Android 4.4 or higher you can play a slideshow of your favorite photo collections, and print your favorite photos directly from the app.
Twitter Removes 140-Character Limit from DM’s
Thursday was an interesting day for Twitter, their CEO stepped down and they also announced the removal of the 140-character limit for Direct Messages. So now you’ll be able to send Direct Messages as long as you want.
