One of the advantages of using the Android operating system, besides its highly customizable interface is the possibility of choosing a phone that really fulfills all your needs, you can choose the screen size that is adequate for the size of your hands, its resolution, the camera sensors that are integrated in the phone or simply choose between a wide variety of designs that OEMs have created. Perhaps that decision would be based on the software tweaks that one of the makers has made to the interface, while this wouldn’t be an issue for advanced users that are willing to root their devices and customize every single part of the interface, not every user knows how to do so nor do they care as much about this aspect. Of course, you could always pick up one of the Nexus devices as they carry the specs and an untouched version of Android the way Google intended.
Google has created a campaign called “Be together. Not the same.”, which reflects just that, the highly customizable experience that Android brings from choosing your own phone to tweaking some settings to create something truly personal. That campaign is now displayed in a very prominent way in the Android web page as it shows some of the devices that use the operating systems, smartwatches, phones, tablets, TVs and even cars. Now, Google has created a tool to help users choose the right smartphone for them, they are required to answer at least three questions about the features that matter the most for them in an interface with nice animations and simple iconography.
The 12 icons in the main page will change their color to let you know that’s a feature you’ve selected, but even then you can edit or remove the feature if you’ve changed your mind. Right after, it will ask about your carrier preference or make that selection a little later on. It picks 3 phones that resemble the needs you’ve manifested with all their specs included, but even with those suggestions, you can filter the results by choosing the carrier, the size of the phone you want, its price and there’s an option to only show the most recently released phones. On the top, you can see a summary of the chosen features by clicking “See Story”, you can Start Over or share the 3 given suggestions to an e-mail, Google+, Twitter or Facebook or they can be sent to an e-mail address so that when you walk into the store, you know exactly what to look for. So, head into the source if you are looking for a new phone or just to check some other options.
