Archos is a France-based smartphone OEM which we don’t exactly talk about that often, mainly because Archos doesn’t exactly release a ton of devices every year. This OEM did, however, release two new devices earlier this month, the Archos 50 Helium Plus and 55 Helium Plus. These are Archos’ mid-range offerings, and the two devices will be available in the UK really soon. The Archos 50 Helium Plus will be available for £119 in the UK, and the 55 Helium Plus will set you back £139 should you choose to buy it. Anyhow, let’s see what these two handsets have to offer, shall we.
The Archos 50 Helium Plus features a 5-inch 720p (1280 x 720) IPS display along with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of expandable internal storage. The device is powered by MediaTek’s MT6735P 64-bit quad-core SoC clocked at 1GHz along with a Mali T720 GPU, and it will ship with a 2,000mAh battery on the inside. The 50 Helium Plus offers Dual-SIM connectivity, and you’ll also be able to use 4G LTE speeds with this device. The bigger, 55 Helium Plus, handset sports a 5.5-inch 720p (1280 x 720) IPS display along with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of expandable in-built storage (16GB microSD card will ship with this unit). MediaTek’s MT6735P 64-bit quad-core processor will fuel this smartphone along with a Mali T720 GPU, same as in the 50 Helium Plus. The 2,400mAh battery will also ship with this handset, in case you were wondering.
Both of these devices will ship with a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera (BSI sensor) flanked by an LED flash, and the 5-megapixel snapper is located up front. Android 5.1 Lollipop will come pre-installed on both of these handsets with some additions by Archos. The 50 Helium Plus measures 143 x 71 x 9.1mm, while it weighs and the 55 Helium Plus comes in at 154.9 x 77.9 x 8.3mm. There you have it folks, Archos’ new mid-range offerings will soon be available in the UK for £119 and £139.
