Dell isn’t exactly the first brand you think about when Android-powered devices come to mind. This company is well known for their PC business, but not so much for smartphones and tablets. Well, Dell has released a really compelling Android-powered tablet back in September last year though, the Venue 8 7000. This thing has been available for quite some time now, and it has finally made its way to India now, read on.
Dell has announced that their the Venue 8 7000 is going to be available for purchase in India next month. The device will be available for purchase for Rs. 34,999 in July. That being said, let’s take a look at this tablet’s specifications, shall we. The Dell Venue 8 7000 features an 8.4-inch 2560 x 1600 OLED display along with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD card up to 512GB). Intel’s Atom Z3580 quad-core SoC running at 2.3GHz powers this thing along with a PowerVR G6430 GPU for graphics. As far as camera sensors go, this thing packs some really unique features actually. The Venue 8 7000 ships with Intel’s RealSense Snapshot Depth Camera technology (two 8-megapixel snappers), which is able to capture the depth map for every picture taken. What does this mean? Well, you get selective filtering and refocus options thanks to this tech. This tablet also offers a 2-megapixel front-facing shooter, and a non-removable battery. Dell Venue 8 7000 ships with Android 4.4.2 KitKat out of the box, but the Android Lollipop update is on the way. This tablet comes in Black color option only, and it measures 215.9 x 214.2 x 6.1mm while it weighs 305 grams.
The Venue 8 7000 is one of the most interesting tablets available at the moment, not only because of its unique camera features, but because of its design. This thing is incredibly thin, and made out of metal, on top of which, its design is rather odd in general. As you can see in the provided images, it sports a rather sizeable chin below the display where most of its sensors are located, while there’s no bezel on the sides or the top of the display, only the frame holding the device is present there. There you have it folks, the Dell Venue 8 7000 will be available in India starting next month, until then, check out our hands-on coverage of this tablet.
