It’s been an interesting week for Android with a mix of different news ranging from rumors on new devices with leaked images to the company behind Android reaching for ever loftier goals regarding internet. This week, Google’s Sidewalk Labs project set out to start a goal to bring city-wide free WiFi to citizens of New York City. Google also added a nifty new feature to their Gmail app and Gmail desktop interface that lets users undo send of emails as long as they’re within a specific time frame after hitting the send button. A couple of leaked images surfaced this week that are reportedly in regards to the OnePlus 2, the upcoming successor to OnePlus’ first handset from last year, which suggests the phone will have a 5.5-inch screen, and we got our first look at the USB Type C charging cable for the device.
Hangouts reached a billion downloads this week, and OnePlus announced they’d be giving out free Cardboard VR units to those who want to watch the upcoming announcement event for the OnePlus 2 in virtual reality. NVIDIA was also in the news this week, mentioning their beta for the GRID streaming service would be extended while it’s set to launch in August. More rumors also surfaced pointing towards Blackberry potentially launching an Android device, and there is a rumor that Google may be renaming Google Wallet to Google Payments.
