BLU seems to always have another phone on the horizon. Today they are announcing two new smartphones, which we’ve had the pleasure of using both of them for the past few days. The BLU Life One was actually announced at CES, and is just now becoming available. This is a $150 smartphone, so it’d be unfair to compare it to something like the LG G4 or Samsung Galaxy S6.
As far as specs go, we’re looking at a 5.0-inch 1280×720 resolution IPS display, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 410 processor – yes that means we have LTE here – as well as 1GB of RAM, a 13MP rear-facing camera and a 5MP front-facing camera. It’s also running Android 4.4 KitKat, which is a nearly stock build of that version of Android.
The BLU Life One actually feels really nice in the hand, it has a soft touch plastic back, sorta like the Nexus 5. Which keeps the phone in your hand instead of falling onto the floor. It’s got a 5-inch display, so it’s not a large phone, by any means. We do have on-screen buttons here, which is a bit surprising for BLU. The only real customization that BLU has made on the Life One is the launcher, which is easily replaceable by throwing on Nova or Google’s Launcher. So if you like having an app drawer, that’s an easy fix.
Seeing as we have a Snapdragon 410 inside, it’s a pretty speedy smartphone. Sure the 1GB of RAM isn’t the ideal combination here, but for $150 with 4G LTE, it’s hard to complain. We’re looking at a 2420mAh battery here, which does last for quite some time. And it has some amazing standby actually. There’s no word on whether this will be updated to Android 5.0 or 5.1 just yet, but we should know more in the near future.
Right now, the BLU Life One is available on Amazon for just $99 on pre-order. So if you’re looking to get this phone, I’d definitely pre-order it now, as it’s essentially 33% off. Which makes it a pretty good deal. It also comes with a screen protector and silicon case as usual from BLU.
