HTC One ME Announced In China, High-End Specs In Tow

HTC has announced a number of high-end offerings this year. The company has released the One M9 handset, their 2015 flagship, during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona last month. The One M9+ and One E9+ followed soon after, and are said to be Asia exclusives. The HTC Butterfly 3 has been launched quite recently as well, and it seems like that handset will be sold in Japan only, at least for now. So, as you can see, there are quite a few Asia exclusives from HTC this year, and another one was rumored recently, the One ME9.

Well, the company has just released that handset, but it’s not called the One ME9, but simply the One ME. This handset is very similar to the One M9+ in terms of the design, its front side looks more or less identical when looking at the phone, though this thing has a smaller display. The physical home button is also here, below the display, and it doubles as a fingerprint scanner. BoomSound speakers are also here, though this handset, unlike the One M9+, doesn’t sport the DuoCamera setup on the back. I guess we can say that the One ME is somewhere between the One M9+ and One E9+ considering that its front resembles the One M9+, while its back looks more similar to the One E9+ thanks to that single camera sensor.

The HTC One ME features a 5.2-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) display along with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of built-in storage (expandable via microSD card). This handset is powered by the MediaTek’s Helio X10 64-bit octa-core processor clocked at 2.2GHz and it will ship with a 2,840mAh battery. The 20-megapixel camera is located on the back of this device and flanked by a dual-LED, dual tone flash. The 4-megapixel UltraPixel (2um pixel size) snapper is available up front. The Android 5.0 Lollipop comes pre-installed here with HTC’s Sense 7 UI on top of Google’s operating system.

The HTC ME will be available in Rose Gold, Gold Sepia, and Meteor Gray color variants. This handset has launched in China, and the company still hasn’t released any information regarding its availability outside of Asia, we’ll let you know as soon as they do.
