YU is a Micromax-owned Indian smartphone manufacturer which has released two smartphones thus far. The YU Yureka has been announced back in January, and the company has recently announced the YU Yuphoria. Both of these handsets are powered by Cyanogen OS, and both are very affordable. The Yureka is a somewhat more powerful device, but the Yuphoria sports premium build and is significantly more affordable than the Yureka. That being said, YU has announced that the incremental update for their latest handset is now available, read on.
The company has released the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop-based Cyanogen OS 12 update with a build number YNG1TBS2P2 which about 38MB in size and is rolling out OTA (over-the-air) to users. You can, of course, manually check if the update is available for your device by going to Settings – About Phone – System Updates. The update has started rolling out, but it won’t be available for everyone from the get-go, it will gradually roll out in the next 2 to 3 weeks. YU has also confirmed that the Yureka will also get a similar update soon, so saty tuned for that.
This update brings along camera improvements to the device, by adding enhancements for snapping macro shots in low light conditions. This update also improves proximity sensor’s performance, and it also improves the responsiveness of the touchscreen on the Yuphoria. The audio chipset optimizations are also available along with this update, and same can be said about the phone’s dialler. Most important of all, this update should fix some overheating issues reported by users recently. That being said, YU has recently confirmed that the Cyanogen OS 12.1 update (for both Yureka and Yuphoria) will also launch really soon, we’ll let you know when that happens.
The YU Yuphoria sports a 5-inch 720p display along with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable internal storage. This handset is powered by the Snapdragon 410 64-bit quad-core SoC along with an Adreno 306 GPU for graphics. The 8-megapixel shooter is located on the back of this device, while there’s a 5-megapixel snapper available up front. The 2,230mAh battery is also available here, and the device ships with Android 5.0.2 Lollipop pre-installed with Cyanogen OS 12 on top of it.
