Everything is getting more compact these days as mobility is very important for consumers, even as the display of some smartphones is getting larger, its components aren’t so they allow much more functionality than just calling or texting. Sometimes sharing multimedia content with more than one person at a time can get a little difficult, as the screen on phones or even tablets can be perceived as getting smaller as the devices get further away so connecting them to a larger screen such as a bigger monitor or a TV is a better option. Of course, prices on these devices are still very high considering the size of the screen you’re getting. Then it comes to projectors, which can be very expensive if you want to use them as part of a Home Theater setup with features such as 4K and 3D and then there are projectors targeted towards business, which offer fewer perks but are priced reasonably and are portable enough.
There were some attempts of including projectors into smartphones, LG made it an optional accessory for its eXpo phone back in 2009 and Samsung released the Galaxy Beam series with built-in 360p projectors but since there have been no successors to any of those lineups, it seems like the experiment failed. Now LG has announced its smallest, lightest and most affordable projector to date and named it Microbeam Nano with model number PV150G.
It weighs only 270 grams and its dimensions are 108 x 103 x 44mm. As for connectivity options it features a USB port so you can plug in flash drives or any other device with this port plus it supports wireless streaming with Miracast technology support or WiFi Direct, so connecting a smartphone or tablet won’t be a problem. Its battery has a capacity of 3,800 mAh, which allows to project images for up to two hours. LG mentions that the maximum diagonal projected can be up to 100 inches, but the resolution is very low at 854 x 480 pixels, so the larger the image, the less sharp it will become. This projector will be available starting this month almost everywhere and the price will vary according to the region, so those interested can check LG’s website to know more about these two aspects.
