Those looking for a mid-range device that even includes a stylus and at a great price need to look no further – the LG G Stylo is arriving on both WIND Mobile and Videotron according to LG Canada. As usual, there is no indication of an exact launch date or pricing, although it is already on Boost Mobile and Sprint in the US for only $199…so add about $50 for the exchange rate and you are looking at $250 for a no contract price.
The LG G Stylo is really quite a good buy in exchange for the technology you receive. The overall dimensions are 154.3 x 79.2 x 9.6mm and it weighs in at 163 grams. It features a 5.7-inch IPS LCD HD display (competing with the Galaxy Note 4 in size) with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and approximately 258 pixels-per-inch (PPI). The processing power comes from a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 quad-core clocked at 1.2GHz and an Adreno 306 GPU. The G Stylo comes with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage with room for expansion via a microSD card.
This $250 device has a 13MP main camera and keeps LG’s Laser Autofocus and includes an LED Flash and the photo quality is pretty good based on our review of the LG G Stylo at the beginning of this month. The front-facing camera (FFC) uses a large 5MP sensor to accommodate the increasing popularity of selfies and video chatting. To power the smartphone LG included a removable 3000mAh battery – the same size in LG’s flagship G4 – and with the 720p display and quad-core processor it should easily get you through more than a day.
The G Stylo has a single speaker in the back, along with the usual suspects – Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, NFC Capability, an FM Radio and an microUSB port for charging and data transfer. What really sets this apart from other mid-range models is the inclusion of an Enhanced Stylus Pen and QuickMemo+. It is carried in its own silo in the device so you will always have it with you and includes software to make it easy to write, draw and edit pictures. It does not have the functionality of the Galaxy Note 4’s S-Pen, nor does it have the push-button for added features, but we are talking about a $250 device here. The device also includes many of the LG features found on its G4 model – Knockcode, Glance View and Touch and Shoot. It is running the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop and comes in one of our favorite colors – black.
