Material Theme Now Available For Galaxy S6 And S6 Edge

Samsung’s Galaxy S6 devices are amongst the most popular smartphone on the planet at the moment. The Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge were announced during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona back in March, and are currently available all over the world. These two devices ship with Android 5.1 Lollipop, and Samsung’s TouchWiz UI is installed on top of Google’s operating system. That being said, Samsung’s skin has been criticized a lot in the past, and Samsung has cleaned it up to an extent, but it still doesn’t really look that similar to stock Android. Well, those of you who don’t like the looks of Samsung’s UI, and would still prefer to use it over a launcher, there’s a solution, read on.

As most of you know, Samsung has released “Themes” as part of new TouchWiz version which ships on their current flagships. There are all sorts of themes in there, and a couple of interesting ones arrived recently. A designer by the name of ‘Cambunch‘ has placed two Material Deisgn themes to Samsung’s Theme Store last week, and both of those were removed shortly after. Samsung said that the icon pack and the wallpaper this designer used are copyrighted by Google, even though the icon pack is released under Creative Comomons 3.0 license. Either way, the designer made some changes to the themes and re-submitted them, though the two themes are still pending approval.

That being said, another designer called Samer Zyer has published a new ‘Material’ theme. This si basically the closest you’ll get to stock Lollipop in TouchWiz considering the designer really went all out here. Wallpaper, settings, notification area, app launcher, dialer, clock, messaging… all of these elements have been redesigned to resemble stock Lollipop, and we haven’t even listed everything that was re-designed. Anyhow, if you’d like to apply this theme, you’ll have to scroll to ‘Themes for Man’ section in the Theme Store and apply it to you Galaxy S6 / Galaxy S6 Edge handset. There you have ti folks, a new ‘Material’ theme is available, and the additional two from ‘Cambunch’ should be arriving shortly.
