Meizu has wrapped up the company’s press conference in Beijing quite recently, and the company has announced the much-rumored M2 Note handset. This is a worthy successor to the M1 Note mid-ranger which was announced at the end of 2014. The device has lots to offers, is available in a range of color options and it’s really affordable. We’ve already covered the main announcement of this handset, and are here to take a closer look at its specifications.
The Meizu M2 Note sports a 5.5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) IGZO (Sharp) fully laminated display along with 2GB of LPDDR3 RAM and 16 or 32GB of internal storage (expandable up to 128GB). This handset is powered by MediaTek’s MT6753 64-bit octa-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz which ships with a Mali T720 MP3 GPU running at 450MHz. The 13-megapixel camera is located on the back of this device, and it has a Blue glass IR filter on top of it. The camera sports a 5-element lens (5P) and f/2.2 aperture, while a dual-LED, dual tone flash is located below it. The 5-megapixel shooter (OmniVision’s sensor, OV5670) is located on the front side of the device (f/2.0 aperture, 69-degree wide-angle lens).
This is a dual-SIM handset, and it offers 4G LTE connectivity. Speaking of connectivity, the phone has support for FDD-LTE, TD-LTE, TD-SCDMA, WCDMA and GSM networks. The 3,100mAh battery is also a part of this package, and Android 5.0 Lollipop comes pre-installed on this handset along with Meizu’s Flyme UI 4.5 on top of it. The Meizu M2 Note measures 150.9 x 75.2 x 8.7mm, while it weighs 149 grams. As you can see, this handset actually resembles its predecessor a whole lot, but unlike the M1 Note, it sports a physical home button below the display.
The 16GB variant of this handset will cost you 799 Yuan ($129) in China, and the 32GB model is priced at 999 Yuan ($161). The phone is extremely affordable, and could become one of Meizu’s best selling smartphones of all time, it will certainly be interesting to see how will it fare by the end of the year. The device is available in Blue, Gray, Rose and White color options.
