Meizu has recently announced the M2 Note mid-range handset, which is a direct successor to the M1 Note which was announced at the end of last year. That handset is even more affordable than its predecessor, and it packs really solid specifications on the inside. The M2 Note features a 5.5-inch 1080p display, 2GB of RAM and a 13-megapixel camera. That being said, Meizu has also announced the M1 handset back in January, which is essentially the smaller version of the M1 Note, and it packs 1GB of RAM and a 5-inch 720p display. Well, we’ve started seeing some leaks regarding its successor quite recently, and the device has just got certified by TENAA (China’s equivalent to the FCC) and its pricing leaked.
The Meizu M2 (M578C) popped up on TENAA, and revealed its specifications along with the design. The Meizu M2 will feature a 5-inch 720p (1280 x 720) display along with 2GB of RAM and the 2,700mAh battery will also be a part of this package. The Meizu M2 will be powered by MediaTek’s MT6735 64-bit quad-core processor along with a Mali-T720 GPU for graphics. The 13-megapixel camera will be located on the back of Meizu M2, and a 5-megapixel snapper will be available up front. This is a dual-SIM handset which offers 4G LTE connectivity, and Android 5.0.1 Lollipop will come pre-installed here with Meizu’s Flyme UI on top of it.
According to TENAA’s images, this thing looks identical to the M2 Note, but it’s smaller, of course. The physical home button is located below the display, as you can see in the images below, and both the volume and power / lock button are located on the right-hand side of this device. As for the price, the report says that this thing will cost 599 Yuan ($97), which would make it really appealing to a wide range of consumers. If this listing and pricing is accurate, Meizu’s M2 handset could become one of the best buy devices out in the market. Either way, Meizu will hold an event at the end of this month, and it seems like they’ll announce the M2, and not the MX5 / MX5 Plus as previously though. Either way, stay tuned, we’ll report back as soon as additional details surface.
