Microsoft has been on a bit of an android binge of late. Although the company is more typically thought of, as a competitor to android (or at least its products), that has changed over the best part of the last year with Microsoft making a clear effort to bring its most popular apps and services to the android world. Of course, in reality, it is in their interest to do so, as the user base for android seems to be increasing growing. Not to mention, with the rate apps are seeing unprecedented growth and revenue, it makes sense for Microsoft to make their apps available to android users and capitalize on bigger end-user usage.
As such, over the past few months they have been running various beta versions of their most popular options, namely the Office based services like PowerPoint, Word and Excel. That said, the beta testing all came to an end recently and the company officially made its Office suite of apps available to everyone. As such, you can now download the likes of PowerPoint, Word and Excel. However, it seems Microsoft are still not finished packing the apps with additional features. The latest being noted is coming to another Microsoft product, OneDrive.
OneDrive is a great option for those looking for more cloud storage and Microsoft were even reported giving away a ton of storage for free recently. Well, it now looks like the OneDrive app has been updated to offer Chromecast support. As such, anyone who uses the OneDrive app will be able to Cast the contents of their OneDrive straight to their big screen TV. This will be great for those looking for an easy way to view their images, presentations or otherwise on a bigger screen. The update (version 3.2.0) is now live and therefore, if you already have the app installed you should see it coming through anytime. If you have yet to download the app, then now might be the time to do so. You can head over to the OneDrive Play Store link by hitting the source link below. On a separate note, if you are running the older version of Microsoft’s Outlook, then it was reported this morning that the older app will close fully on July 31st. So might be a good time to update both.
