OnePlus One Will Soon Be Available At Flipkart As Well

India’s number one e-commerce site Flipkart on Thursday released a teaser which hinted at a OnePlus device soon being available for purchase on the website. While it wasn’t immediately clear whether it’s the OnePlus One or the upcoming OnePlus Two the retailer was hinting at, sections of the media in India is reporting that it might be the former, citing a “reliable source” with inside information about the goings-on. The teaser simply says, “The One Wish Flipkart hasn’t fulfilled yet … is about to come true soon”. The source further claims, the One will be available on Flipkart June 22nd onwards, and the 64 GB Sandstone Black variant will be the first one up for sale.

It bears mentioning here, that Hong Kong headquartered smartphone maker OnePlus had been selling its first-generation flagship exclusively through Amazon in India, and on Thursday, had offered a one-day-only discount of Rs. 2001 ($33) on the aforementioned 64 GB Sandstone Black version. While the smartphone is normally listed at RS. 21,999 ($360), the temporary discount brought down the price of the device to Rs. 19,998 ($330) for the day. OnePlus had also recently announced it will extend the warranty on all its current and future smartphones by three months, exclusively for customers in India. The announcement followed numerous complaints of shabby after-sales service, and the last thing OnePlus wants, is bad press just before the launch of its next-generation flagship, the OnePlus Two, which is said to come with Qualcomm’s controversial Snapdragon 810 SoC, albeit, in an under-clocked avatar in order to hopefully avoid any overheating issues.

Coming back to the company’s first-generation handset, the OnePlus One comes with a 5.5-inch 1920 x 1080 panel and is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 801 SoC. The phone is offered in two storage variants of 16 and 64 GB but both come with 3 GB of RAM. The camera on the back of the device comes with a 13-megapixel sensor, while the selfie-cam on the front comes with a 5-megapixel sensor. The phone originally shipped with Android 4.4 KitKat-based CyanogenMod 11S, but the company has since developed and released its own Oxygen OS, the current version of which is based on Android Lollipop. The phone can be updated to either OnePlus’ Oxygen OS or CyanogenMod 12S, in accordance with user preference. The teaser from Flipkart, meanwhile, can be seen below.
