Huawei has been doing really well lately, the company managed to increase their profits in 2014, and it seems like everything is in order as far as this tech giant is concerned. The company has already announced their Android-powered flagship offerings for 2015, though they’re still expected to announce a couple of handsets before the end of the year, including the Mate 8 phablet. That being said, all those handsets are powered by Android, and Huawei always puts their Emotion UI skin on top of Google’s OS. Well, last month, we’ve heard some rumors saying that Huawei might be working on their own operating system, read on.
The name of the said operating system is allegedly ‘Kirin OS’, and Huawei has apparently been working on it for the past three years. We don’t have much information as far as the OS goes, though it is possible that this thing will still be Android-based, something along the lines of Oxygen OS or Cyanogen OS perhaps. Well, a new leak popped up in China saying that the company’s upcoming Honor 7 handset might ship with Kirin OS pre-installed. If you take a look at the image down below, you’ll notice that the listed OS is ‘Kirin 1.0’. If this is true, the Huawei Honor 7 will be the first handset to ship with Huawei’s new operating system out of the box.
As far as the handset itself goes, we’ve seen a number of leaks thus far, and the smartphone has even been certified recently. The Honor 7 will reportedly feature a 5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display and 3 or 4GB of RAM (depending on the version). The 3GB variant will ship with 32GB of internal storage, while the 4GB model will come sporting 64GB of in-built storage. Huawei’s HiSilicon Kirin 935 octa-core SoC will power this handset, and Android 5.1 Lollipop with Huawei’s Emotion UI 3.1 on top will come pre-installed on this device. 4G LTE connectivity will be available here, and a 3,280mAh battery will also be a part of the package. The 13-megapixel camera will be available on the back of this thing, same goes for the fingerprint scanner.
The Huawei Honor 7 will sport a metal unibody design, and according to reports from China, the two variants will cost 1,999 Yuan ($322) and 2,699 Yuan ($435), respectively.
