For not being one of the ‘Big Three’ networks in Canada, WIND Mobile is certainly moving forward as if it wants to be one of their ‘elite’ carriers. Just a couple of days ago it was announced that WIND Mobile would be one of the first carriers to offer wireless services on the Toronto subway stations. It makes one wonder why one of the Big Three – Rogers, Bell or TELUS – never committed to the undertaking, but it is nice to see WIND Mobile moving forward.
Today, they announced the new and exciting Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge are now available in the newest Platinum Gold color. The new color costs the same as the White Pearl and Black Sapphire and has the same specifications. For the Galaxy S6 with 32GB of internal storage, WIND is asking $749 outright, $599 on WINDtab, $499 with $5/month WINDtab Boost, $299 with $15/month WINDtab Boost and only $99 with $25/month WINDtab Boost. The Galaxy S6 Edge will set you back $849 outright, $699 on WINDtab, $599 with $5/month on WINDtab Boost, $399 with $15/month on WINDtab Boost and $199 with $25/month on WINDtab Boost.
Samsung really had to up their game with the Galaxy S6 series after the rather disappointing sales of last year’s Galaxy S5, and the new Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge will not disappoint you – unless you want a microSD card slot and a removable battery. Samsung made some surprising moves this time around – some, like using their own 14nm processor and getting rid of the plastic were a big hit, but others, like getting rid of the microSD card slot and no battery removal did not go over well. Many felt they should have put in a larger battery and added waterproofing if they were going to seal up the phone.
Decisions were made and a new design of all metal and glass was introduced, along with the Galaxy S6 Edge…although it is a $100 more than the normal Galaxy S6, it has proven to be very popular. They sport a 5.1-inch QHD Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels with 577 pixels-per-inch. It uses Samsung’s own 64-bit Exynos octa-core processor, 3GB of DDR4 RAM and 32/64/128GB of the new UFS 2.0 internal flash memory and a 2550mAh battery in the Galaxy S6 and a 2600mAh battery in the Galaxy S6 Edge. A new 16MP main camera with a wider f/1.9 aperture, OIS, autofocus and LED flash and a 5MP front-facing camera gives you a great photo experience with lots of features.
