Some information regarding a new Samsung smartphone has arrived, but it’s not a flagship of any sorts, quite the opposite, actually. It carries the model name SM-G150 and it first appeared on an IMEI database only showing its existence and that the product is made by Samsung, therefore, it comes from South Korea. Shortly after, it appeared in a Bluetooth certification database and finally, it appeared on the Indian site Zauba, which offers information about imports and exports, so we know that it’s being tested in that country. One more detail could be obtained from that site, the display of the device will measure 3.8 inches. So which device could this new one succeed? It seems to fit into the category that the Galaxy Young series has brought. The Galaxy Young 2 was announced around this time last year and was available in October, its model name is SM-G130, which definitely resembles the model in the new device and while the screen is getting a little larger, it would still be one of the smartphones with the smallest screens.
The Galaxy Young series was introduced in 2013 targeted to teenagers looking for their first approach at a smartphone, therefore they offer very low-end specs. The Galaxy Young 2 includes a single-core 1 GHz processor with 512 MB of RAM. The only camera is the one in the back with a resolution of 3.15 megapixels so with all the focus on the front facing cameras they’ve had recently, it’s possible that the new device could include a low resolution one. Aside from that possible change, we could expect maybe a slimmer device and small upgrades in the processor and the RAM, but nothing earth-shattering. As for the name, it could be called Galaxy Young 3, but since Samsung has introduced a new naming scheme based on a letter and a number, they might change its name this time around. Samsung has already introduced a low-end device with the Galaxy J1 and it uses this new naming system and the Galaxy Young brand is not as popular as Galaxy Note or Galaxy S, but we’ll have to wait and see how it turns up.
