Samsung's Patent Shows A Tablet WIth A Foldable Display

Samsung is the number one smartphone manufacturer in the world, and one of the biggest tech companies in general. This Korea-based tech giant has released a ton of smartphones, tablets, smartwatches… in the last couple of year. Some of those products were rather regular, and some of them were really innovative and unique, and the Galaxy S6 Edge is the prime example of that. Samsung dabbles in pretty much anything these days, they’ve even released a virtual reality headset called Gear VR last year.

That being said, we’ve seen a number of Samsung patents this year, many of them had something to do with curved displays and what not, and the company has even showcased their transparent panels recently. Well, a new Samsung patent surfaced, and even though it was submitted quite some time ago, we haven’t exactly see it around thus far. It seems like Samsung has patented the foldable tablet display which could fold up to two times, and form a single device.

According to the patent info, this device would be able to unfold into three parts, though the details are scarce. Don’t expect to see this thing released anytime soon though, Samsung patented this a long time ago, but it doesn’t seem like something we’ll see released this year or anything like that. Samsung has, however, been experimenting a lot lately, and have made significant breakthroughs in the display shape sector, which might indicate this is the next step.

As you might recall, we’ve talked about Samsung’s ‘Project Valley‘ quite recently. According to the available info, that project definitely has something to do with this patent. Samsung seems to be working on displays which you’ll be able to manipulate in a number of ways, no matter if you want to bend them, roll them up like a dollar big, or something else. This, of course, opens a lot of opportunities for company’s to manufacture unique devices and something we haven’t seen thus far. Either way, stay tuned, we’ll report back if any additional information surfaces regarding Samsung’s display tech.
