Sony may have a new compact device that is currently in the works, having been listed with the model number E5663 which is slated to have a 4.6-inch screen attached to it. Most of the news surrounding Sony at this time has to do with the company’s new flagship device, the Xperia Z4 or otherwise known as the Xperia Z3+ launched elsewhere outside of Japan, but Sony no doubt has other handsets in development. The E5663 for example. Prior to today there has been no mention of specifications, so the details having been leaked out are somewhat of a big deal, although it’s worth remembering these are just leaks for now and not confirmed by Sony as official details, so there is a chance that things could end up differently for the E5663 when it launches.
In addition to the 4.6-inch display size that has been rumored for the Sony E5663 model device, it’s being rumored that it will also be of 1080p resolution, making it a device equipped with a higher resolution screen than other compact devices Sony has released. Besides the screen details, it’s said to be sporting a MediaTek processor inside, more specifically the MediaTek MT6795 CPU which is an octa-core chipset that clocks in at 1.9GHz. MediaTek has been making some ground lately showing that what they have to offer can be just as powerful as some of the bigger players while also remaining at a lower cost, so this could help keep the price of the E5663 lower than if Sony were to be using a CPU from Qualcomm.
Continuing on with the hardware specifications, the rumor also states that the E5663 will come equipped with 3GB of RAM, and 16GB of internal storage space, which isn’t too far of a stretch since plenty of Sony phones come with this amount of hard drive space. When it comes to the camera, speculations due to the benchmarks suggest a 13MP camera on the front of the device, and a 21MP camera on the back which has become standard with most Sony devices. So far there aren’t any details on price for the phone, nor an official name, nor a launch date. For that matter, as we stated above the details on specs aren’t confirmed either at this point, so for now these are just rumors.
