Team Coco Giving Away Free Google Cardboard

Virtual reality is one of those industries which started off as a slow burner, but has quickly seemed to gain traction more recently. Over much of 2014, the news did steadily come in on the developments being made within the VR world, but in terms of the end user, there was little for consumers to grab on to. This all changed, when in the second half of 2014, Samsung released their highly reported on Gear VR virtual reality headset. As this was a Samsung product and one in what was effectively a newer and niche market, the interest in Gear VR was significant. However, this was still a limiting product for the end user, as only those who owned a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 could use Gear VR. Since then though, reports have come in from the likes of Sony, HTC and even LG bringing their own VR type devices to the market.

Of course, although Samsung seemed to start the trend, they were not the first android-related company to get involved with VR. Back at Google’s annual I/O conference last year (IO14), Google introduced their on-the-budget version in the form of Cardboard. Unlike, Samsung’s and the rest, Cardboard was made of cardboard and came as a bit of a DIY type unit that you could assemble yourself. Nevertheless, in spite of its seemingly budget appearance, Cardboard does offer the user a VR experience.

Well, if you have not given Cardboard a try yet, but did like the idea of the platform, then it looks like Conan O’Brien is giving consumers the chance to get their hands on a completely free Cardboard. In preparation for Comic-Con next month, Team Coco are offering users a free cardboard so they can enjoy all the Conan antics in virtual reality and via the Team Coco android app. For those interested, all you have to do is fill out the mailing form and that’s about it. According to the details, those interested have until the 29th of this month to place their order. However, this is a ‘while supplies last’ type deal and therefore, the chances are, they will be gone before the scheduled deadline time and date. Those interested in knowing more (or securing their Conan VR) can head over to the Team Coco website via the source link below. One more thing to note, this is a U.S. only deal.
