Bored of the way your homescreen looks? Maybe you aren’t bored with your design but you just want something fresh for a new week? If you’re a serial themer, a new themer, or someone who just likes to try something new every now and again, it’s Sunday and time for a new homescreen of the week. This week’s pick is called FlexyBlack, found over on mycolorscreen by a creator named Betinho. It’s not overly populated with futuristic designs, or tons of intricacies, and although those types of homescreen themes can look great from time to time something a little more reserved is worthwhile.
To kick things off we’ll go over what apps you need to have downloaded and installed to recreate this look for yourself, then we’ll go over the basics of how to set it up on your own device if you wish to do so. First things first, the apps. You’ll need a third-party home launcher like Nova Prime installed here, as well as Zooper Widgets Pro which is what you need to apply the widget skins, Media Utilities to configure the music controls on the widget, and finally Simple RSS widget if you want the information to flow on the “Feeds” portion of the widget.
The last thing you’ll need is the Zooper skin itself, which you can find here, and Betinho has also made this theme compatible with Kustom Live Wallpaper if you prefer, you can find the link to that description here. As for setting things up, go into Nova settings and make sure the homescreen grid is set to 10 x 8, set the option to “on” for the scrolling wallpaper, and set up three homescreen pages to apply the widgets to. Once you have FlexyBlack installed, simply long press on each homescreen page, tap on add widget, scroll to select Zooper and pick any size widget as you’ll just be resizing to fit the grid anyway, and finally select each page of the FlexyBlack skin. For media Utilities, (which is also an optional part of the skin) do a simple Google search on configuring the app for use of music controls. That’s it. If you enjoy this homescreen theme don’t forget to show some appreciation to the creator for their hard work by going to mycolorscreen and hitting the love button and as always have a great rest of the weekend and happy theming!
