Twitter has always been about conversations. The company has always made it easy to reply to other users and strike up a conversation. Whether that be with your celebrity crush, or perhaps even your cousin. But sometimes there are multiple conversations going on, that come from a single tweet. And that can get a bit difficult to decipher and keep up with. Especially if it’s from a tweet from a popular account, that will likely get a ton of replies anyways.
According to Twitter’s blog post yesterday, “Conversations surrounding a Tweet, particularly if they’ve sparked lots of replies and disparate conversations, can be hard to follow. So, we’re doing a few things to make this much easier: grouping conversations together and highlighting some of the most interesting exchanges surrounding a given Tweet right below that Tweet. To surface some of the most interesting conversations, we’ll take factors into account like whether the original account has replied.”
Yesterday, Twitter has made that a bit easier. Now you’ll see on the tweet page, tweets that are part of a conversation are connected. So if you wanted to, you could jump into that conversation and reply to people. It’s not a huge change, but it’ll likely make it easier to follow conversations on the microblogging network. Twitter says that they will be continuing to iterate this feature and see what works best, as they do with most other features they add into their network.
Twitter is currently one of the most popular social networks around, with over 300 million active users each month, and that number is growing and growing. Twitter has become a great place to keep up on local news, tech news, really any type of news. But also a great place to chit chat with friends – as long as you don’t mind it being in public where everyone can see what you’re saying. This update is rolling out to the website right now, and we’ll likely see it hit the official Twitter apps in the next few months, if not sooner. The rollout will be slow, so if you don’t see the update just yet, don’t panic, you will soon. This change will also be available for both logged in and logged out users.
