Vodafone Launch Premium Smart ultra 6 for £125

In the UK, things have been changing in the wireless industry, amidst all of the consolidation where networks are concerned, consumers are looking for a change in their devices, too. While devices like the Galaxy S6 and LG G4 will no doubt be big sellers throughout 2015, consumers have realized that there’s not always a need to spend top dollar on a smartphone, especially now that budget options like the Moto G support 4G LTE, and those networks have reached more of the UK. Vodafone has been leading the pack when it comes to budget, capable devices that support 4G, and we recently took a look at the Smart prime 6 and the Smart first 6, two budget smartphones that punch above their weight.

Now, Vodafone are back, launching the Smart ultra 6, with some pretty impressive specs, without the associated price tag. The Smart ultra 6 features a 5.5-inch Full HD display, an octa-core Snapdragon 615, Android 5.0 Lollipop and 13 and 5-megapixel cameras. 16GB of storage and 2GB of RAM join the club here, too. There’s also a 3,000 mAh battery here that Vodafone are claiming two days’ worth of battery life. All-in-all, this is pretty well-specced smartphone, and considering that it’s available on Vodafone for just £125 on pay as you go, or free on plans starting from £17 a month. Sure, you have to be on Vodafone’s network, but that £125 price tag is much cheaper than even the OnePlus One and ticks many of the same boxes.

Dee Kaul from Vodafone said of the new Smart ultra 6 that “We’ve sold over 70 million Vodafone branded devices across the world since we started offering them in 2006. They’ve proved a huge success and I expect the Smart Ultra 6 will be another great addition. This is the most premium 4G device we’ve launched and one that I think customers will be very excited about due to its strong feature set, competitive price point and great design, it looks fantastic.”

Own-brand devices like these seem to be really taking off in the UK, and it’s not difficult to see why. They tick many of the boxes for casual and even more demanding users, and yet don’t feature the same hefty price tag. For a lot of customers, devices like these are the easiest way to avoid a 24 month contract without breaking the bank. It’s available right now from Vodafone for both consumer and business accounts.
