Micromax Announces Canvas Cue 2 A316 Handset In India
The Canvas Hue 2 A316 is yet another mid-ranger in Micromax’s Canvas series of devices. This handset features a 5-inch 720p (1280 x 720) AMOLED display along with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable internal storage. The 13-megapixel camera is located on the back of this device, while a 5-megapixel snapper can be found on its front side. The 2,000mAh battery is also a part of this package, and Canvas Hue 2 A316 also support 4G LTE and dual-SIM connectivity. MediaTek’s octa-core SoC clocked at 1.7GHz is fueling this thing, and Android 4.4.2 KitKat comes pre-installed. The Canvas Hue 2 A316 can be purchased in India for Rs. 12,499 ($196).
Xolo And Flipkart Team Up, New ‘Black’ Phone To Arrive Every Quarter
These two Indian companies have partnered up in order to release new phones to the market. The first ‘Black’ phone will arrive later this month, and Flipkart is the one who’s going to be selling it. These devices will be priced under Rs. 15,000 ($235), and will offer 4G LTE support. The first ‘Black’ device will feature two rear-facing cameras, and will ship with Xolo’s HIVE 1.5 UI installed on top of Android. “At Xolo, we have always focused on building a strong digital presence. Even now, Xolo has 20-22% of the total sales coming from online channels. Introducing an ‘online-only’ sub-brand is a natural progression for Xolo, catering to the experience-seeking online customers,” said Sunil Raina, Xolo’s Business Head.
Oppo Neo 5 Gets Launched In India For Rs. 9,990 ($155)
Oppo has released a new affordable mid-ranger for the Indian market. The Oppo Neo 5 sports a 4.5-inch 854 x 400 FWVGA IPS display along with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of expandable internal storage. The device is powered by MediaTek’s MT6582 quad-core SoC clocked at 1.3GHz along with a Mali-400 MP2 GPU. 8 and 2-megapixel camera’s are also available here, on the phone’s back and front side, respectively. This is a 3G HSPA+ device, and it will ship with a 2,000mAh battery on the inside. The device comes in Sapphire Blue and Crystal White color options, and is priced at Rs. 9,990 ($155) in the country.
Sony Xperia A4 Will Hit Japan On June 18
The Japan-based carrier, NTT DoCoMo, will launch the Xperia A4 on June 18. This is essentially the Xperia Z3 Compact, but it features a plastic back cover instead of a glass one. The device sports a 4.6-inch 720p (1280 x 720) display, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 801 quad-core SoC clocked at 2.5GHz fuels this device along with an Adreno 330 GPU. The 20.7-megapixel shooter will be available on the back of the Xperia A4, and a 2.2-megapixel snapper will be available up front. This handset will utilize the 2,600mAh battery and will cost 77,760 yen ($630) in Japan.
Sony Has Launched Xperia Z3+ in Taiwan For $676
The Xperia Z3+ (or Xperia Z4, depending on the market) is Sony’s new flagship smartphone. This Japan-based company has released this handset in Taiwan, and it costs NT$20,900 ($676). The Xperia Z3+ features a 5.2-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display along with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable internal storage. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 64-bit octa-core SoC powers this handset, and a 20.7-megapixel shooter is available on the back. Android 5.0 Lollipop comes pre-installed on this device with Sony’s skin on top of it.
128GB Variant Of Asus ZenFone 2 Released In Taiwan
Asus has announced the 128GB model of ZenFone 2 in Taiwan. This device is basically identical to the most powerful ZenFone 2 device, but it ships with 128GB of internal storage. This variant of the device features a 5.5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display along with 4GB of RAM. The device is powered by Intel’s Atom Z3580 quad-core SoC, and the device will ship with a 3,000mAh battery on the inside. Android 5.0 Lollipop will come pre-installed here with Asus’ ZenUI installed on top of it. This variant of the device is priced at 11,990 Taiwan dollars ($390).
Airtel Started Testing 4G In New Delhi, India
Airtel is India’s largest carrier, and they’ve kicked off 4G LTE trials in Delhi yesterday. “Airtel’s 4G services in the NCR are the first in India to leverage an integrated frequency division (FD) and time-division (TD) network which will deliver the fastest 4G experience and superior network coverage,” said the company. As part of this trial, Airtel’s customers across Delhi-NCR can now use the complimentary upgrade to Airtel 4G at 3G prices. Airtel is trying to gather feedback from the customers during these trials, and also further test their network.
InFocus M530 Gets Launched In India For Rs. 10,999 ($173)
The M530 is InFocus’ well-specced mid-range device for the Indian market. This handset features a 5.5-inch 720p (1280 x 720) IPS display with Corning’s Gorilla Glass 2 protection on top. The phone is powered by MediaTek’s MT6595 octa-core SoC, and it will ship with a 3,100mAh battery on the inside. The 13-megapixel cameras are available on both its front and back side, both sport Sony’s sensor. The rear-facing camera sports a f/2.2 aperture, and the front-facing one comes with a f/1.8 aperture sensor. 4G LTE is available here, and the device will be available in Blue and White colors for Rs. 10,999 ($173) in India starting June 26th.
2nd-Gen Motorola Moto E Now Available In Australia
The Motorola Moto E (2nd-gen) is now available for purchase from a couple of retailers in Australia. Dick Smith and The Good Guys are now offering this device for $239. We’re looking at the 4G LTE variant of the device here, which sports a 4.5-inch 960 x 540 display along with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. The 5-megapixel snapper is available on the back of this handset, and a 2,390mAh battery ships with the device as well. Android 5.0 Lollipop comes pre-installed here with a couple additions from Motorola. The Moto E (2nd-gen) measures 129.9 x 66.8 x 5.2-12.3mm and weighs 145 grams.
